Arm Lift in Beverly Hills

As we age, our skin loosens. Sometimes this can result in excess or hanging skin of the upper arms. People who have lost large amounts of weight often have hanging skin in their arms. This is especially true for people who have had gastric bypass surgery and massive weight loss. An arm lift, also known as brachioplasty, can help with these problems. During the procedure, excess skin and fat of the arms are removed. This results in an improved contour of the arms. The procedure does create a scar, which is placed as inconspicuously as possible.

For some patients who have excess fat without loose skin, liposuction can provide improved appearance with very small scars. Sometimes liposuction is combined with an arm lift. During your consultation at Rodeo Drive Plastic Surgery, your Beverly Hills plastic surgeon will advise which alternative is best for you based on your body shape and type of skin.

The surgery is usually done as an outpatient under general anesthesia administered by a physician anesthesiologist at our Beverly Hills plastic surgery center. There is usually very little discomfort following the surgery because a long-term local anesthetic is administered during the procedure. After the surgery, your plastic surgeon might advise you to wear special elastic garments or wraps around your arms for a few weeks. You also will have to avoid heavy lifting with the arms for four to six weeks.
