Lip Augmentation in Beverly Hills and Los Angeles
Lip augmentation or lip enhancement creates fuller, plumper lips and reduces fine wrinkles around the mouth. The procedure is sometimes performed on just the upper or lower lips, but usually is done on both lips at the same time. Many of our patients find that having a lip augmentation in Los Angeles provides a subtle but very pleasing improvement to their appearance.
Lips may be filled with injectable fillers, such as Restylane or Juvederm. They also can be treated with fat transferred from another site in your body. Injectable fillers and fat are absorbed, and eventual repeat treatments are necessary to maintain the best results. There are longer-lasting options, which include Radiesse and implantable materials like AlloDerm. Tissue from other parts of your body also can be used, such as that taken during a facelift or removed from the scalp area especially for this purpose.
Details of Beverly Hills Lip Enhancement
During the procedure, a natural or synthetic biocompatible material, or your own fat, is injected or implanted into your lips. One injection is usually sufficient to produce the desired result. Usually the procedure can be done with no downtime or recovery, and essentially all of our patients resume normal activities immediately. Proper placement of the injected material is important. In procedures done with AlloDerm, a natural collagen sheet made from donated skin, the material is inserted through tiny incisions inside the corners of the mouth. Once the AlloDerm implant is in place, it eventually becomes integrated with the natural tissues. Gore-Tex, SoftForm and soft ePTFE are other synthetic implant options.
